Symmetry |
Symmetry (from Greekσυμμετρεῖν symmetreín "to measure together") has two meanings. The first is a vague sense of harmonious and beautiful proportion and balance, The second is
an exact mathematical "patterned self-similarity" that can be demonstrated with the rules of a formal system, such as geometry or physics. |
In this photo of a pool, I see lane lines, the clear blue water, and the lines under the water. The symmetry, can be seen in the pool lanes, the bright lights reflecting on to the pool, and the pillars on each side of the pool. This value conveys a sense of competition in my opinion. This image is appealing to me because i am a swimmer and a water polo player
In this photo of a building, I see even tiles, the two doorways leading to the hallway, and a reflection of the building on the tiles. The symmetry, can be seen in the tiles, the doorway and pillars of this building. This symmetry conveys a sense of proportion in my opinion. This image is appealing to me because it seems very clean and pure.
